Barrel and Wide Leg Crop Jeans for Women Over 50

If you love the look of barrel jeans or wide leg crops but don’t have a clue how to wear them, I’ve got your back. And if you also live in a cold climate where it’s not an option to sport bare ankles in the Fall and Winter, you’re probably wondering, “what in the world do I wear for shoes?”

Let me make this really simple:

  1. Define your waist. Whether you do a full- or partially tucked shirt, a fitted shirt, cropped sweater or short jacket, err on the side of less bulky for your top half. If you’re trying to camouflage some areas up top, pick sweaters or jackets that fall at the hip bone. For fitted shirts, choose tops with a feminine silhouette that tapers gently at the waist but skims your body without being clingy. For button-up shirts, try a full- or partial tuck or maybe even a peplum.

  2. Choose pointed-toe ankle boots, kitten heels, flats or streamlined sneakers - nothing clunky. For us cold-weather gals, ankle boots will be the go-to in the chillier months.

  3. Find brands that flatter you. Emphasize a good fit over the printed size on the tag. Check the size guide for each brand prior to ordering or make time to try on different brands and sizes if you are shopping in-store.

I’ve pulled together a few ideas for you below so you can see what I mean!
